Every week The Slovak Spectator brings you a selection of three short stories from across Slovakia from which pessimism and negativity are absent.

Morning bus rides are usually quiet affairs filled with sleepy faces and headphones. But in the Krupina district of central Slovakia, one bus driver has become an unexpected internet sensation for doing the exact opposite. A video currently making the rounds on social media shows Milan, a driver for a regional bus service, singing to passengers while driving his route. What started as a simple recording shared by a passenger has quickly won hearts across Slovakia.

The video was posted by a passenger, who praised Milan for always lifting people's spirits, even on gloomy mornings. Her post sparked an avalanche of positive reactions from locals who know him personally and from passengers who have travelled with him over the years. Many described him as polite, cheerful and genuinely caring, while others joked they wished every bus driver could make the daily commute this enjoyable. Even the transport company itself joined the praise, sharing the video and thanking people for the kind words. Milan is living proof that sometimes all it takes is a good song and a smile to make someone's day a little brighter.
