A selection of short feel-good stories from Slovakia.

Every week The Slovak Spectator brings you a selection of three short stories from across Slovakia from which pessimism and negativity are absent.

Drivers caught in a long traffic jam near Žarnovica were bracing themselves for the usual mix of heat, boredom and frustration after a serious accident brought traffic to a standstill. But instead of endless complaints and blaring horns, a group of folk musicians from an ensemble in Krupina stepped off their bus and turned the roadside into an impromptu concert venue.

As people began leaving their cars while waiting for the road to reopen, traditional Slovak songs started ringing out between the rows of vehicles. What could have been a miserable summer delay quickly became a feel good moment that had drivers smiling, filming videos and even wishing they could join in. The musicians may have arrived late to their festival, but they showed everyone around them that sometimes the best part of a journey is the unexpected story you take home. If you're patient enough, of course.
