The murder trial of Duncan Hoorn has been delayed once again after the defence requested a postponement until next week, saying it has been unable to secure two witnesses it intends calling before the Western Cape High Court.
The application came shortly after the State formally closed its case in the Western Cape High Court, currently sitting in the Wynberg Regional Court, following weeks of evidence from family members, police officers, forensic experts and medical specialists.
Hoorn has pleaded not guilty to charges of kidnapping, murder and defeating the administration of justice.
Addressing the court on Tuesday, defence advocate Gilbert Jose thanked Acting Judge Amanda van Leeve for the court's "indulgence" before explaining that the defence had been caught off guard by how quickly the prosecution concluded its case.
