Duncan Hoorn apologized for showing middle finger to the media
A written statement from a witness who was later shot dead could become key evidence in the murder trial of Duncan Hoorn, who is accused of murdering his wife, Chantel Pasqualle-Hoorn.
The State brought an application before the Western Cape High Court, currently sitting in the Wynberg Regional Court, on Monday to admit hearsay evidence contained in a statement made by Pasqualle-Hoorn's late nephew, Keanu Pasqualle, about what he allegedly witnessed on the night she was fatally assaulted on June 27, 2024.
Hoorn has pleaded not guilty to charges of kidnapping, murder and defeating the administration of justice.
The application follows earlier testimony heard during the trial from Pasqualle-Hoorn's sister, who told the court she phoned Keanu after hearing her sister pleading for help during a telephone call with Hoorn.
