Duncan Hoorn with his instructing attorney

The Western Cape High Court has ruled that a written statement by Chantel Pasqualle-Hoorn's late nephew, Keanu Pasqualle, be admitted as hearsay evidence in the murder trial of Duncan Hoorn.

The ruling marks another significant development in the State's case against Hoorn, who has pleaded not guilty to charges of kidnapping, murder and defeating the administration of justice.

Keanu, who provided a statement to police shortly after the events of June 27, 2024, was later shot and killed before the trial commenced, making him unavailable to testify.

The State successfully argued that the admission of his statement was in the interests of justice.
