Perambalur MP K. N. Arun Nehru has urged Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to expedite the construction of three road over bridges (ROB) in Tiruchi.All three bridges that are being built near Tiruchi Railway Junction, Tiruchi Fort Railway Station and Manakkal near Lalgudi have run into delays, he pointed out in a representation submitted to the Minister in New Delhi recently.While the ROBs near Tiruchi junction and Manakkal are being executed jointly by the Railways and the State Highways Department, the one coming up near the Fort Railway station is being executed by the Railways in association with Tiruchi Corporation.The ROB coming up near Fort Railway Station has been delayed by more than 12 months, while the one near Tiruchi junction has run into a delay of six months. The ROB at Manakkal has been suffered a time overrun by a year, Mr. Arun Nehru said and urged the Minister to ensure that the railway portion of the ROBs are completed expeditiously.“These projects are of significant public importance and their early completion will greatly improve traffic flow, road safety and connectivity in Tiruchi district,” he said and urged the Minister to direct Southern Railway General Manager to accord priority to these projects.
