The Association of Independent Publishers (AIP) has been rocked by allegations of a governance crisis stemming from a R114 million Digital News Transformation Fund backed by Google and managed by Tshikululu Social Investment in partnership with AIP.
Non-profit media membership organisation and advocacy group, the Association of Independent Publishers (AIP) has been rocked by allegations of a governance crisis, including favouritism and failure to advocate for community publishers.
The allegations were made in the memorandum of grievances submitted by two publisher organisations, the Black Independent Publishers Association (BIPA) and the African Chamber of Media (ACM), and concerned individuals.
The memorandum also demanded the immediate resignation of AIP executive director Dr Kate Skinner and the dissolution of the board.
The accusations stem from a R114 million Digital News Transformation Fund (DNTF) backed by Google and managed by Tshikululu Social Investment in partnership with AIP.
