Snow fall has been reported in parts of the Eastern Cape and the Drakensberg mountain range.

rThe KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport says major routes across the province are being monitored by the Road Traffic Inspectorate as snowfall has been reported in the Drakensberg region while other areas are experiencing rainy and icy weather conditions.

The department said snowfall was reported in the Drakensberg region including at Sani Pass and in Mount Fletcher, in the Eastern Cape.

The N3 Van Reenen pass between Harrismith and Ladysmith is being closely watched to ensure that road closures can be implemented swiftly to prevent motorists from being stuck on the highway.

In other areas, mist and rain have been reported including along the coastal region and inland.
