With KwaZulu-Natal's known to swing from placid to powerful and destructive at the rate of knots, residents of the province have been asked to take severe weather warnings seriously and prepare for likely flooding and snow in some parts.
Alerts to residents have been circulated by authorities with the hope of preventing the loss of lives and reducing damage to property and infrastructure.
KZN's Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs' (Cogta) Chairperson, Marlaine Nair, has asked communities across the province to heed the warnings and follow official weather advisories issued by the South African Weather Service (SAWS) and disaster management authorities.
Nair said that taking precautionary measures was of utmost importance as it would go some distance towards avoiding unnecessary risks during hazardous weather conditions.
