The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has escalated its warning for persistent disruptive rainfall along parts of the KwaZulu-Natal coast and adjacent inland areas to a Level 6 warning.
The warning is in effect for Tuesday and Wednesday, and signals an increased risk of dangerous weather conditions across several municipalities.
Provincial MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi, said provincial disaster management teams are closely monitoring the developing weather system and remain on standby to respond where necessary.
