MURDERED: Dunoon Ward 104 by-election candidate Sinovuyo Dyokwe.

The case against Avuzwa Dyobeni, who is accused of masterminding the murder of DA ward candidate Sinovuyo Dyokwe, has been postponed to allow him to submit arguments on why the court should not permit the media to broadcast the proceedings.

The Cape Town Magistrate's Court on Monday also granted Dyobeni permission to consult a private doctor and submit a J88 medical report detailing the extent of the injuries he allegedly sustained after claiming he was assaulted by police while in custody following his arrest on Saturday.

Dyobeni faces charges of premeditated murder and extortion.

Police have alleged that Dyobeni was the mastermind behind the killing of Dyokwe, who was shot ten times in Mnandi Street, Dunoon, in June, while returning home from a voter registration event.
