WITH the alleged mastermind behind the murder of DA ward candidate Sinovuyo Dyokwe expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrates' Court on Monday, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has been urged to build a watertight case to secure a successful prosecution.
Dyokwe was shot ten times in June on Mnandi Street while returning home from a voter registration event.
Her murder came months after she had submitted a sworn affidavit to police, alleging she had been instructed to pay a protection fee linked to a temporary relocation project in Dunoon undertaken by a non-profit organisation.
Police spokesperson Colonel André Traut said a 37-year-old suspect was arrested during a joint intelligence-driven operation conducted by Provincial Serious and Violent Crime Investigation (SVCI) detectives and the SAPS Special Task Force in Parklands on Saturday after allegedly evading arrest.
