SLAIN DA ward candidate Sinovuyo Dyokwe, who was shot ten times while returning to her home in Dunoon from a voter registration event at the weekend, had earlier this year reported an extortion case to police after allegedly being ordered to pay a protection fee.
Authorities said extortion could not be ruled out as a motive behind her murder.
Her killing came in the same week as the murder of MK Party activist Mzwakhe Dlamini, who was also gunned down in Dunoon.
Dyokwe was ambushed in Mnandi Street at about 6pm on Saturday when a gunman on foot opened fire on her.
