Nine people, including two children, were hospitalized on Sunday after contracting salmonella following a meal at a taverna in the western Athens suburb of Peristeri.
The patients developed severe symptoms of gastroenteritis and were taken to Nikaia General State Hospital, where tests confirmed salmonella infection.
According to Michalis Giannakos, president of the Panhellenic Federation of Public Hospital Employees (POEDIN), all nine patients received treatment and were later discharged.
The incident is the third reported salmonella outbreak in Greece in recent days, following similar cases in Lamia and Kastoria, raising concerns among health authorities.
