Health authorities have detected salmonella in two additional batches of chicken products supplied to restaurants in the central Greek city of Lamia, broadening an investigation into a foodborne illness outbreak.
Laboratory tests by the National Public Health Organization (EODY) found the bacteria in chicken fillet and chicken skewers supplied by two companies separate from a supplier already under investigation.
Authorities are now examining three suppliers, while test results from samples collected at eight restaurants remain pending.
The contaminated batches are being recalled, additional testing of food handlers is planned, and administrative penalties may be imposed if food safety violations are confirmed.
