A car accident in Samalae‘ulu, Savai‘i, damaged an Electric Power Corporation (EPC) power pole on Sunday afternoon, causing an unplanned outage affecting parts of the Puapua Feeder.
EPC said power was restored to part of the feeder, from Sapulu through to Puapua, while crews continued restoration work in remaining areas still without electricity.
EPC said its teams responded to the incident and were working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.
The incident is not the first time a vehicle crash has damaged EPC infrastructure and disrupted power supply.
In an earlier Samoa Observer report, two vehicle crashes over one weekend damaged power poles in Matautu and Fasito‘o Uta, causing outages in affected areas.
