Authorities have charged a couple in connection with the death of a 41-year-old emergency medical worker on the island of Syros, following a crime scene reconstruction into her fatal stabbing.
The two suspects appeared before judicial authorities, where charges were filed, and were given until Tuesday to testify before an investigating magistrate.
According to state broadcaster ERT, the 41-year-old man faces a charge of causing fatal bodily harm, while his 31-year-old wife has been charged with aiding and abetting.
The charges follow a reconstruction carried out Saturday at the couple’s home in Ano Syros, as investigators examined the circumstances of the EKAB emergency responder’s death and the man’s claim that he acted in self-defense.
Police said surveillance footage shows the woman arriving at the house with her face partially covered before entering. She is later seen leaving, followed by the couple. The footage also shows the man throwing a chair and a flowerpot at her before she collapsed nearby. She was taken by EKAB ambulance to Syros General Hospital, where she later died.
