Authorities on Saturday reconstructed the fatal stabbing of a 41-year-old emergency medical worker on the island of Syros as investigators sought to establish the circumstances of her death and assess the main suspect’s claim that he acted in self-defense.
The reconstruction took place at the scene in the presence of the two suspects – a 41-year-old man believed to have carried out the attack and his 31-year-old wife.
The pair appeared before the Syros prosecutor on Friday but have not yet been charged. The prosecutor ordered the preliminary investigation to continue and requested the reconstruction to clarify key aspects of the case before deciding whether to file charges.
Investigators are seeking to determine why the victim, an emergency responder with Greece’s national ambulance service (EKAB), went to the couple’s home in Ano Syros and reconstruct the sequence of events that led to her fatal injuries.
According to police, surveillance footage shows the woman arriving at the house with her face partially covered before entering. She is later seen leaving the property, followed by the couple.
