A storm sweeping across Greece on Friday, briefly hitting Athens in the evening before moving eastward, caused damage and widespread disruption, although no injuries have been reported.
Strong winds and hail brought down trees in Athens and Piraeus, while scaffolding collapsed at a construction site in Piraeus, disrupting traffic.
Road traffic was also affected by flooding along a section of Pireos Street toward Athens and on Petrou Ralli Street in the direction of Piraeus.
Tram services in Piraeus were disrupted after the storm damaged overhead power lines on Grigoriou Lambraki Street.
By Friday evening, the Fire Brigade had received more than 150 calls for assistance, including reports of fallen trees and branches, water pumping operations and the removal of hazardous objects. Nearly half of the calls came from Athens, mainly from the city center and the western suburbs.
