The drug den in Philippi which residents represented by ward councillor, Elton Jansen is calling for the legal eviction of its occupants and for the building to be demolished.
Strandfontein ward councillor Elton Jansen is, on behalf of residents, petitioning for the Minister of Land Reform and Rural Development (DLLRD) to fast-track the eviction process of the occupants of a known drug house in Schaapkraal, Philippi.
The petition has so far received over 1 300 signatures from residents supporting the call.
The Cape Argus has since reached out to DLLRD, which promised feedback.
Jansen said that the property, identified as 57 Punt Road, Philippi, ERF 617, was a drug den that facilitated drug trade.
