U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were down 0.4% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.5%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 dropped 0.8% in morning trading. Dassault Aviation climbed 8.3% and Huhtamaki rose 7.3%. On the other hand, STMicroelectronics slipped 14.9%, and Temenos fell 10.4%. The FTSE 100 lost 0.3%. Other stocks in Europe were down as France's CAC 40 declined 1% and Germany's DAX dropped 0.8%.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index dropped 0.1% to 97.25.

In commodities, Brent crude gained 3.9% to $97.73 a barrel, and WTI crude rose 3.1% to $89.48 a barrel. The European benchmark price for natural gas, the Dutch futures contract TTF, was up 1.5% to 63.48 euros a megawatt hour.

The German 10-year Bund yield climbed by 2 basis points to 3.22% from 3.202%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury rose by 1 basis point to 4.674% from 4.668%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
