U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were down 0.3% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.2%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 climbed 0.3% in morning trading. Auto1 Group added 4.1% and VAT Group rose 2.5%. On the other hand, Pennon Group slipped 4.1%, and Nokia fell 3.2%. The FTSE 100 added 0.2%. Other stocks in Europe were up as France's CAC 40 increased 0.4% and Germany's DAX climbed 0.2%.
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index was flat at 96.48.
In commodities, Brent crude dropped 0.5% to $91.03 a barrel, and WTI crude fell 0.4% to $87.87 a barrel. The European benchmark price for natural gas, the Dutch futures contract TTF, was up 0.1% to 48.82 euros a megawatt hour.
The German 10-year Bund yield was flat at 3.048%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury rose by 1 basis point to 4.535% from 4.522%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
