A patient being transported by ambulance was killed after the emergency vehicle collided with an oncoming car in Hania, Crete, early Sunday.
The two health workers aboard the ambulance and the driver of the other vehicle, reported to be a nurse returning home after a night shift at Hania Hospital, were injured and taken to hospital for treatment.
According to medical staff at Hania Hospital, the patient may have suffered a heart attack, although the exact cause of death has yet to be confirmed.
Traffic police have launched a preliminary investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
