One man died and three others were injured when the two car they were in collided head on at an intersection of the old national highway connecting Athens with Corinth, near Elefsina.

According to the police, the 37-year-old driver was at the intersection with Platonos Street, driving towards Athens on Sunday evening, when he hit the second car driven by a 61-year-old man, and then smashed into a lighting pole.

A passenger in the first vehicle was killed, the driver was seriously injured and another passenger suffered lighter injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle was also injured.
