Calls are mounting for South Africa's Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) to undergo sweeping leadership changes, with one security expert arguing the unit should be shut down altogether amid allegations against its head, Advocate Andrea Johnson.
The conduct of Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) head Advocate Andrea Johnson and suspended Crime Intelligence Major General Feroz Khan has severely damaged the unit's integrity, and the directorate should be shut down, according to security strategist Andy Mashaile.
His comments come as Johnson faces mounting pressure to step aside amid allegations of misconduct, interference in investigations and defeating the ends of justice.
Johnson was expected to testify before the Madlanga Commission on Monday in response to the allegations.
However, she was admitted to hospital on Monday morning before her scheduled appearance.
