IDAC head, Advocate Andrea Johnson, allegedly compromised the investigation into Crime Intelligence Head, Major General Feroz Khan’s assault case.

The Madlanga Commission has heard allegations that the head of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC), Advocate Andrea Johnson, leaked confidential case information to Major General Feroz Khan while he was a suspect in a criminal investigation.

The allegations emerged on Friday during the testimony of retired Colonel Kobus Roelofse, formerly of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI), better known as the Hawks.

Roelofse told the commission that, in 2020, he was seconded to the National Prosecuting Authority's Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC), where he worked on investigations involving state-owned entities and Crime Intelligence.

He said he later became aware of allegations that, in July 2018, Johnson had forwarded a criminal case docket involving Khan to him using a female colonel's private Gmail account. The email allegedly originated from former journalist Barry Bateman.
