Flights abroad and those entering Greece, along with the domestic aviation market, formed a clear upward trend at the country’s 39 airports in the first half of 2026. The combined flows of foreign and domestic passengers set the pace at Greek airports, confirming the steady demand for domestic destinations.
The total passenger traffic at the country’s airports (including the 24 under the management of the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority, the 14 of Fraport Greece and the Athens International Airport) reached 33,964,132 passengers in the year’s first half.
This translates into an increase of 5% from the same period of 2025, when 32,358,875 people traveled. The uptick is also reflected in the number of flights (domestic and international arrivals and departures), which reached 265,798, marking an increase of 4.6% compared to the 254,151 flights of the same period last year.
This trend was already visible in the first five months (January-May), with the total number of flights at the 39 airports reaching 186,119 (+4.8%) and passengers reaching 23,076,532 (+5.7%).
