Greece maintained a growth rate in tourism over the second quarter of the year despite hostilities in the Middle East and overall geopolitical turbulence.
According to data from the Institute of the Greek Tourism Confederation (INSETE), air arrivals in the year’s first half increased 3.8% year-on-year to reach 10.7 million, with June playing a significant part. June arrivals by air rose 2% annually to 4.1 million.
After the strong growth in the year’s first quarter (14.6% compared to Q1 of 2025), the second quarter managed to return to expansion despite April’s slump. April-June arrivals grew 1.8%.
There was a similar trajectory in travel receipts, which Bank of Greece data processed by INSETE puts at €5.3 billion in the first five months of the year.
This constitutes a 25.8% increase compared to January-May 2025, attributed both to revenues from European Union residents (up 18%) and from non-EU travelers (up 36.9%).
