Athens International Airport started 2026 with a notable increase in passenger traffic: From January-March, 6.3 million passengers used the country’s largest airport, up by 8.1% from the first quarter of 2025.

The momentum remained strong in January and February, though the first signs of a slowdown were recorded from March due to the conflict in the Middle East.

Despite the decline, passenger traffic remained in positive territory, rising 3.8% in March and 1% in April compared to 2025.

Based on the data so far, AIA maintains its estimate for a low single-digit increase in traffic for the whole of this year.
