Athens International Airport entered 2026 with increased passenger traffic but lower profitability, as the management chose to temporarily reduce charges to airlines, as part of an adjustment to the airport's regulatory operating model.

During the first quarter of the year, the airport served 6.3 million passengers, recording an increase of 8.1% compared to the same period of 2025.

The momentum remained strong, especially in the first two months of the year, however, since March the first signs of a slowdown were recorded due to geopolitical developments in the Middle East.

Total revenue for the Athens-listed company fell by 5.7% and stood at €117.9 million.

This policy had a direct impact on profitability, with adjusted EBITDA reaching €55.3 million, down 14.9% year-on-year, while net profits were limited to €18.9 million.
