The Civil Protection Authority has issued a Category 4 “very high risk” fire warning for Friday, covering Attica, Crete, and parts of Central Greece, the Peloponnese and the North Aegean, including the islands of Lesvos, Chios, Samos and Ikaria.

Authorities alerted regional and municipal officials to remain on heightened readiness.

The fire service will maintain its second-stage operational alert level, increasing aerial surveillance and patrols by fire, police and military units. Firefighting personnel in the affected areas will be on partial standby.

A civil protection action plan remains in effect, including bans on vehicle traffic and visitors in forests and parks. Citizens are urged to avoid outdoor burning and report fires by calling 199.
