Families traveling by car can reduce the cost of a trip to the Aegean islands by around 30 percent. Some ferry operators are also offering combined deals that include both discounted ferry tickets and reductions of approximately 20 percent on hotel stays on the islands.
Travelers heading to the Cyclades can also find cheaper options, with groups of three people eligible for discounts of around 25 percent on ferry tickets.
Tourism operators advise passengers to carefully check the conditions for discounted fares when booking and paying for tickets, as the offers vary between companies and destinations.
Industry representatives say the price reductions are part of an effort by ferry companies to boost passenger numbers on routes to the Greek islands. High ferry costs have led some visitors to choose mainland destinations instead, while in certain periods of the year it can be cheaper to fly and rent a car than to travel by sea.
