In a challenging macroeconomic environment, the final picture emerging for ferry ticket prices in Greece for the summer season is positive – at least for passengers.

Based on the price lists of ferry companies, it appears that the single economy class passenger ticket (whether it concerns deck or inside) is generally kept stable compared to last summer and the summer of 2024.

However, the flip side of the coin has several coastal shipping companies, especially the smaller ones, operating with severely squeezed margins or even losses, as evidenced by published balance sheet figures for 2025. This is because fuel prices, which cover more than half of their operating costs, have risen considerably.

Fare stability mainly concerns economy class, as there have been some targeted price increases in the higher classes, such as in the prices for the cabins of specific – mainly long-distance – itineraries. At the same time, there are also changes in the loyalty programs of frequent passengers. In some cases the percentage of discount provided was reduced from 20% to 10%.

Fare containment in economy class is on the one hand a business decision of coastal shipping companies and on the other hand the result of indirect “recommendations” by the government, expedited by the Ministry of Shipping and Insular Policy.
