A wildfire broke out Sunday afternoon in low vegetation near Nea Kerasia, in the Municipality of Thermaikos, east of Thessaloniki, prompting a large firefighting operation.
The blaze was reported at around 3 p.m., with 25 firefighters, including a specialized forest firefighting unit, and seven fire engines sent to the area.
Two helicopters were deployed for aerial water drops, while municipal water tankers assisted ground crews.
A fire investigation team from Thessaloniki was also dispatched to determine the cause of the blaze. No injuries or property damage were immediately reported.
