Thoothukudi Collector Vishu Mahajan on Thursday inspected various development works being carried out by the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare department in the Vilathikulam taluk.The Collector inspected the activities of the seed purification plant with a warehouse being established by Thoothukudi Pulse Producers’ Company Limited in Kamalapuram panchayat. He also reviewed the activities related to the 1,000 kg capacity improved solar dryer, value addition initiatives and also the uploading of identity cards of the farmers. He further inspected the chilli processing and value addition activities undertaken by farmers, along with construction of farm ponds in Keezha Vilathikulam panchayat.He also inspected the training courses being conducted for field workers regarding census 2027 in Vilathikulam town panchayat at a private marriage hall. In Vilavamarathupatti panchayat, the Collector with the support of HCL Foundation under the Tamil Nadu Rural Livelihood Mission, provided bank loans amounting to ₹2.80 lakh to women Self Help Groups (SHGs).Later, Mr. Mahajan inspected the basket-making and basking weaving activities being carried out by the SHGs in K.
