Collector H.S. Srikanth on Wednesday inspected the ongoing construction of a Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Therazhundur village in Kuthalam block and reviewed various development works being carried out in nearby villages in Mayiladuthurai district.The PHC building is being constructed by the Rural Development Department at an estimated cost of ₹1.50 crore. During the inspection, Mr. Srikanth reviewed the quality of the construction work and instructed officials to expedite the project.He also inspected the laying of a tar road for a distance of 2,550 metres in Therazhundur village under the NABARD scheme at an estimated cost of ₹98 lakh. The Mr.Srikanth verified whether the road width and measurements were in accordance with government norms.Later, Mr. Srikanth visited the wellness centre at Mekkirimangalam village and reviewed the medical services being provided to the public. He also inspected the maintenance of basic amenities, including drinking water and toilet facilities.At Mekkirimangalam, the Collector inspected an edible oil production unit established by women self-help groups under the Integrated Farm Cluster Scheme with a bank loan assistance of ₹20 lakh. He held discussions with members of the self-help groups regarding the functioning of the unit and oil production activities.Subsequently, at Komal East village, the Collector inspected a fair price shop and reviewed the distribution of essential commodities such as rice, pulses and sugar to ration cardholders. He also verified stock details at the outlet.The Collector later visited the Integrated Agricultural Extension Centre at Komal panchayat and inspected the stock of seeds kept for distribution to farmers.
