In the ongoing security and judicial crackdown on educators’ union activists, imprisoned activist Masoud Farhikhteh has been transferred to solitary confinement. Concurrently, Reza Mosalmi, a teachers’ union activist from Hamadan, has been sentenced to a total of four years, one month, and 17 days of discretionary imprisonment.
According to a report published on the Telegram channel of the Coordinating Council of Iranian Teacher Trade Associations, Masoud Farhikhteh was moved from the general ward to a solitary confinement cell. His cellmates reported that since his transfer, his phone access to his family has been cut off, and a scheduled in-person visitation was canceled without explanation.
This punitive measure follows announcements that a court session was to be convened regarding new cases fabricated against Farhikhteh while he was inside prison. Farhikhteh had previously issued a statement declaring that he would refuse to participate in the court proceedings.
Concurrently, Branch 2 of the Hamadan Revolutionary Court sentenced Reza Mosalmi to three years, six months, and one day in prison on the charge of “assembly and collusion against national security,” and seven months and 16 days for “propaganda against the Islamic Republic.”
