Masoud Farhikhteh, a prominent teachers’ union activist and member of the Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers’ Trade Associations (CCITTA), has been held in solitary confinement at Karaj Central Prison for 16 days.

According to a report published on the CCITTA Telegram channel, Mr. Farhikhteh, who was transferred to solitary confinement on June 29, 2026, has been denied telephone contact and family visitation rights during this period. This marks his sixth transfer to solitary confinement since his arrest.

The prison inspector and facility officials cited the publication of a statement by Farhikhteh as the pretext for his transfer. In that statement, Farhikhteh declared that he would not participate in a court trial that he deemed lacked the standards of a fair judicial process. His transfer to solitary confinement was imposed as a “disciplinary punishment” for this stance.

Simultaneously, reports indicate that authorities have intensified restrictions on inmates in Ward 16 of Karaj Central Prison, where Farhikhteh is usually held. These measures include limiting family phone calls, cutting off gas services, and reducing both the quality and quantity of food rations.

Masoud Farhikhteh was arrested on September 15, 2025, during the general assembly of the CCITTA and was subsequently transferred to Karaj Central Prison to serve a sentence of three years, six months, and one day.
