"Revival" MP Tsoncho Ganev
The National Assembly rejected a proposal by "Revival" to instruct the government to end Bulgaria’s 10-year cooperation agreement with Ukraine, signed in Kyiv on May 30.
The motion, described by its authors as “enslaving for Bulgaria,” aimed to cancel a deal that formalizes long-term security and sectoral cooperation with Kyiv. The agreement aligns Bulgaria with the G-7 framework supporting Ukraine and does not require ratification by parliament.
It was initially signed on March 30 by the caretaker cabinet led by Andrey Gyurov and later confirmed by the government headed by Rumen Radev at an EU-level meeting in Brussels on Ukraine support.
The document commits Bulgaria to continued military assistance, including cooperation in weapons and ammunition production. It also outlines plans for an energy corridor with Ukraine, discussions over the potential sale of Belene NPP reactors, and collaboration in cybersecurity, intelligence sharing, and countering disinformation.
