The opposition party "Democratic Bulgaria" has strongly criticized Prime Minister Rumen Radev over his decision not to join the Coalition of the Willing, arguing that the move isolates Bulgaria from Europe’s evolving security architecture and undermines the country’s long-term interests.

In a joint declaration, the coalition accused Radev of distancing Bulgaria from key discussions on European defense and security at a time when new forms of cooperation are taking shape alongside NATO.
According to Democratic Bulgaria, the country should be actively involved in initiatives related to missile defense, Black Sea security, protection of critical infrastructure and broader European defense cooperation.
“As a Black Sea country and a member of NATO and the EU, we are directly interested in missile defense, maritime security, the protection of critical infrastructure and European defense cooperation,” the declaration said.
