U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were down 0.4% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.4%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 dropped 0.4% in morning trading. Redcare Pharmacy climbed 3% and Renault added 2.9%. On the other hand, Galderma Group sunk 5.7%, and Gerresheimer lost 3.3%. The FTSE 100 lost 0.4%. Other stocks in Europe were down as France's CAC 40 decreased 0.4% and Germany's DAX fell 0.2%.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index rose 0.2% to 97.72.

In commodities, Brent crude gained 0.2% to $73.07 a barrel, and WTI crude rose 0.2% to $69.64 a barrel. The European benchmark price for natural gas, the Dutch futures contract TTF, was up 1.9% to 44.49 euros a megawatt hour.

The German 10-year Bund yield climbed by 3 basis points to 2.898% from 2.864%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury held steady at 4.47%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
