Proteas all-rounder at the crease during the ICC T20 World Cup group game against Bangladesh at Lord's.

Playing at Lord’s is every cricketer’s dream — regardless of gender. The opportunity to walk through the Members' Pavilion and out onto the hallowed ground with Father Time looking down from above is a unique, special occasion.

For many of the Proteas Women’s squad, it was the first time they enjoyed this surreal experience during Sunday’s final group game against Bangladesh. Others, like veteran pacers Marizanne Kapp and Shabnim Ismail, are, however, regular visitors to ‘The Home of Cricket’ due to their exploits in The Hundred franchise competition.

Either way, they all desperately want to return for Sunday’s showpiece T20 World Cup final at the storied ground, but they know they first need to overcome the stiff challenge of England at The Oval in Thursday’s second semi-final.

“Shabbi [Ismail] and I actually spoke about it this morning at training. The two of us usually perform well at Lord’s. We just feel like if we can get past this semi-final hurdle, we know we'll perform well and bring our A-game to the final on Sunday,” Kapp told the media on Tuesday.
