AC Milan is back at the table for Mattia Liberali. The Serie A club has scheduled a videocall with the teenage midfielder’s agents to discuss a potential transfer, barely a year after letting him walk out the door.
Liberali, who turned 19 in April, left Milan for US Catanzaro on a permanent deal back in August 2025. Now, the Rossoneri apparently want him back.
The numbers behind a potential return
When AC Milan sold Liberali to Catanzaro, they retained a 50% stake in any future resale proceeds. That means if another club, say Como, were to buy Liberali, Milan would pocket half the transfer fee anyway.
Liberali’s current market value sits at around €8.5 million. His release clause with Catanzaro, however, is set at €6 million. Given Milan’s 50% resale stake, the effective cost to bring him home could be significantly lower than what any competing buyer would face.
