A court in the northern city of Thessaloniki has awarded €360,000 to the family of a teenager who died in a shotgun accident at a friend’s home.
The 15-year-old was fatally shot in April 2022 in Thessaloniki’s Evosmos suburb. The court found that his friend, also aged 15 at the time, and the friend’s parents should pay damages to the dead youth’s family, as well as court costs.
The court opined that the teenage host’s parents failed to ensure that the gun was safely stored and kept out of the youths’ reach.
The teenager has already been sentenced by a minors’ court over the fatal incident.
