A man who invaded his former wife’s home for hours, armed with an axe and threatening to burn her alive while livestreaming her ordeal on social media, was convicted Friday of domestic violence and weapons offences.

State ERT television said a court in the city of Larissa, in central Greece, ordered the man imprisoned without delay for two months, and imposed an additional 20-month suspended sentence.

He was also convicted of breaching a restraining order banning him from approaching his former wife.

The incident occurred in Larissa Wednesday. The court heard that the 50-year-old defendant burst into the woman’s home, armed with the axe and a brimming fuel can and threatened to set the place on fire. He then streamed live footage of the attack on social media, ordering his ex-wife to keep moving through the home.
