A man brandishing a chainsaw, armed with a knife and allegedly shouting insults and threats outside a family home has been arrested in northern Greece, authorities said Monday.
A police statement said the 42-year-old suspect was taken into custody Sunday in a village near Thessaloniki after he turned up outside the home of a man with whom he had been involved in a past dispute and started swearing and making threatening remarks.
The statement clarified that the man was wielding a chainsaw but had not turned it on.
It said he faces charges of breaking weapons and immigration laws, as he lacked legal residence documents and was carrying a knife at the time of his arrest. Local media said the suspect was an Albanian national.
The precise nature of his grievances was not immediately known. Police said the man the suspect was angry with was away from home at the time of the incident.
