Police in Athens have arrested a man who allegedly threatened people with a knife near the entrance to the Acropolis archaeological site in Athens, injuring two American tourists.
The incident occurred at around 8:03 a.m. at the southern entrance to the archaeological site, opposite the Acropolis Museum.
The suspect reportedly brandished a knife, causing injuries to the two tourists. State broadcaster said one of the tourists was seriously injured in the leg, while the other received an injury to her hand.
The male victim is receiving treatment in the Red Cross Hospital. The injured are reportedly a Greek American couple.
A passerby alerted authorities by calling the police emergency number, and officers arrested the suspect when they reached the scene.
