South Africa is expected to wake up to a generally cool and settled winter Friday, with widespread cloud cover, morning fog in several provinces, and only limited rainfall activity confined to a few regions.

South Africa can expect a mostly cool winter’s day on Friday, with morning fog affecting several provinces, scattered cloud cover across much of the country, and pockets of rain and thundershowers developing over the western, southern and far northeastern regions.

A Yellow Level 2 warning for reduced visibility has been issued for most of Mpumalanga due to dense morning fog. Difficult driving conditions, possible road traffic accidents and short-term travel disruptions are expected before conditions gradually improve later in the day.

Gauteng will enjoy fine and cool weather throughout the day, while the North West Province remains partly cloudy and cool. The Free State starts with patches of fog in the east and along the Lesotho border before becoming partly cloudy, with increasing cloud cover over the southwestern areas later.

In Limpopo, cloudy conditions and morning fog are expected across the eastern and central regions. The province will become partly cloudy and cool thereafter, with a 30% chance of showers and rain over the Lowveld and Limpopo Valley.
