A cool and clear winter's day in South Africa, with fog lifting to reveal sunny skies.

South Africa can expect a predominantly cool and dry winter’s day on Wednesday, with most inland areas enjoying fine weather after early morning fog patches clear. Rainfall will be limited mainly to parts of the southern coastline, while the remainder of the country stays dry under partly cloudy skies.

Gauteng will start the day with patches of fog in the north before clearing to fine and cool conditions. Some cloud cover is expected over the southern parts of the province, with colder conditions developing in the far south-west. The UVB index remains high, so sun protection is advised during the middle of the day.

Mpumalanga and Limpopo will experience fine weather throughout the day, with temperatures ranging from cool in the morning to pleasantly warm by afternoon. Morning fog may affect parts of the south-western Bushveld in Limpopo before lifting.

The North West Province and the Free State will begin with areas of fog, followed by partly cloudy and cool conditions. Temperatures will remain chilly, especially along the Lesotho border where cold weather is expected to persist through much of the day.
