A new serious crash involving a heavy truck has raised fresh concerns about road safety in Bulgaria, just a day after the fatal tragedy on the Trakia highway that claimed the lives of two children and an adult, BNT reported.

The latest accident occurred around 1 p.m. on the Struma highway near the village of Malo Buchino, close to Sofia. According to eyewitnesses who shared information and footage in the Facebook group "Katastrofi v Sofia," a tanker truck tore through the central guardrails, crossed into the opposite carriageway, and collided with a passenger vehicle.

Police and emergency crews were dispatched to the scene shortly after the crash. Video circulating on social media shows extensive damage to the highway barrier, with sections of the guardrail completely crushed by the truck as it entered the oncoming lane.

Traffic on the highway was temporarily blocked following the collision, leading to a traffic jam stretching for more than a kilometer. Traffic police officers diverted vehicles through alternative routes while emergency teams worked at the site.

According to the Ministry of Interior, the driver of the passenger car was injured. Initial information indicates that the injuries are not life-threatening.
